Soap Upgrade - the scale up!
Share
A quick update - to scale a business....takes so much...over so much time....it's not just financial resources... it's more the research - adding UPCs - Universal product Codes - endless hours of design work - sneak peek behind the scenes of it all - overwhelming - frustrating and so very excited - I can't believe I am the curator -
My focus is the Farm first - so easy and time efficient goes hand and hand with the farm - switching back over to boxes - (yes I have had boxes before, they were not pre-printed tho)
everything begins with reserach - a few more items of equipment -
Key points about INCI:
-
Universal naming
-
Each ingredient has a single official INCI name.
-
Example:
-
Coconut oil → Cocos Nucifera Oil
-
Olive oil → Olea Europaea Oil
-
-
-
Regulatory compliance
-
The FDA (U.S.) requires cosmetics and soaps marketed as cosmetics to list ingredients using INCI names.
-
Many retailers and export markets expect INCI names, so it helps with wholesale and international sales.
-
-
Clarity for consumers
-
Helps consumers identify potential allergens or preferred ingredients.
-
Makes ingredient lists consistent across brands, even if marketing names differ.
-
-
How it works for soap
-
Fats and oils are listed as “saponified oils of [INCI name]” or as the individual sodium salts (e.g., Sodium Cocoate).
-
Other ingredients like goat milk, water, fragrances, and essential oils also follow INCI naming where possible.
