This is what gel phase really looks like in cold process soap!
It’s part of the natural chemical reaction that happens when lye meets warm oils — the metamorphosis of nature that transforms simple ingredients into a beautiful, solid bar of soap.
We insulate our slabs heavily and keep them warm — around 180° for 12–24 hours — so the bars gel evenly and don’t get that dark ring in the middle. It’s one of the tricks to keeping your soap looking smooth and beautiful.
Pictured: an unscented oat batch loaded with real colloidal oats. Extra gentle, skin-loving, and always made with fresh goat’s milk. 🤍🐐✨
**** 💜 the purple bars are not mine * that is what gel phase or not full gel looks like *** a lot of art & science to prevent this - tho there is nothing wrong with the functional nature of soap like this - it will cure just fine - but that ring will always be there *
