🥵 My least favorite job? Mixing lye. 🧪🔥 It’s a dangerous, heat-producing chemical, so I always mix outside with care. After measuring precisely, I combine just 2 gallons (256 oz) at a time in my stainless tank—slowly and safely, with gloves, a mask, and lots of respect for the process.

Lye and water can heat up to at least 200°F, so I place the mixing tank into an old (but still installed) utility sink filled with ice water to help cool it down. Safety first, always.
