It's a Cow's life

Maybelle in carrying a heifer...or it's supposed to be.... Based on the magic of science......is it 60/40 is it 70/30......Full moon...nice weather... I LOVE a good theory...an old -wives tale...Daytime calving?
According to every old wives’ tale ever told… it should be a thing.
But my cows? Oh no. They’re smarter than that.
I swear they sit out there whispering,
“Hey, you know what would be funny?
Let’s all wait until 2 a.m. when she’s half-asleep and stumbling around with a flashlight and a granola bar.”
At this point I’m convinced they enjoy watching me become a nighttime snack-gobbling zombie.
Said with all the humor and love in the world… because honestly, they keep me humble.

Konefal's Theory on Night Time Calving
Gus Konefal's theory on night time calving suggests that feeding cows later in the day can increase the number of calves born during daylight hours. This method, known as the Konefal method, involves two feedings per day, with the first feeding between 11:00 a.m. and noon and the second feeding between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. Research has shown that cows fed this way have a higher percentage of calving during daylight hours, making it easier to monitor and assist calves. The theory is based on the idea that feeding later in the day increases rumen pressure, which may trigger calving. This method has been widely adopted by producers and has been supported by various studies, including one involving 1,331 cows on 15 farms in Iowa, where 85% of calves were born between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
