End of the day… thought I’d share everything.........
(or as much as I can recall) of what I did today…
Started at 3 a.m. with a barn check walkthrough… to have three dogs upset and take off after something. I am really good at sleepwalking and life on four hours of sleep, repeat… ended up with a dog in the house.
Bottles for two kids at daylight… Jim makes me coffee and runs it out to the barn. Feeding starts early… too much to list the feed regime and routine… all individuals… but we have a really good, organized system that is very efficient.
Talked to a neighbor… lots of emails… followed up with a retailer… took an order for ONF… pulled it… started box inventory… let Sassy (our Holstein) into the atrium for extra feed… she spent most of the day there… rounding every hour, or close to it… passed out extra mineral… cleaned up several feeders…
Made two cute reels… the black snakes are very active… cut, sliced, and laid out 90 bars—a combination of Black Raspberry and Nature’s Oasis… cataloged… made a batch of Honeysuckle Paprika… another sink of dishes and laundry… really nice, warm, dry weather…
Added water to the hogs… made the dogs supper—scrambled eggs and lard with a few leftover muffins… peeled the netting off a round bale perfectly! Was kind of proud of myself… no cutting or ripping…
Feeding starts again at approx. 4:30… premixed for yearlings… annoyed we were out of corn chops for these really pesky nine chickens that I deal with… LOL… had to make them mash… otherwise they don’t get out of my barn…
Milked again… bottles x3… gave Lego vit B gel—she’s a yearling recovering from pneumonia… she knows I am watching her…
Edited a few pictures… wrote a blog post on essential oils… checked automation of website… disappointed in open rates…another problem to solve...
Picture is Jim fencing a really nice pine tree… that suddenly the cows are using as a scratching post…Monday 3/30/2026
Have to mention...ordered Jim a book he's been wanting..excited to have found it for under $10 ..some British mystery..
