Sometimes you don't need to build something new. Sometimes you just need to bring an old piece back to life.
This old cedar frame has been here longer than we have. And I mean - old - These are split cedar logs, weathered by decades of Ozark weather. At this point, I'm pretty sure some of them have reached "possibly petrified" status.
The Campbell family bought this section of the farm back in the early '90s. Over the years, we just haven't done much with this particular corner. Most of the year, it's grown up, tucked away and easy to forget about.
But this time of year?
You can actually see it.
So here we are, giving this old frame a little attention and a new purpose.
The new farm sign is being designed now β 36" x 24 with our beautiful blue farm logo. I'm still deciding whether the sign itself will be rectangular or oval.
And yes, we're hoping this one is a * stopper *
Which is especially important because apparently GPS has decided that our farm is actually about a quarter mile down the road... and in the woods
and I have done all the things to fix this...
Thankfully, GPS is cooperating today. Mostly.
There is something I really love about using what is already here β old cedar, old structures, old history β and giving it another chapter.
It takes time. It takes work. It takes a little imagination.
And sometimes it takes a chainsaw, a tractor, a shovel, and a willingness to stand there for a while and say, "Okay...what can we do with this?"
We're not building a brand-new farm.
We're building on what was already here.
One old piece at a time
And hopefully, when that new sign goes up, you'll know you've arrived β even if GPS still thinks you're lost.
I'll show you when it's up!
